At some point during each year nearly half of the Earth's surface becomes subject to snow, ice or frozen ground. Gaining new knowledge of these cold regions and putting that knowledge to work for the Corps of Engineers, the Department of Defense, and the nation is the task of the U.S. Army Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory in Hanover, New Hampshire.
