Pipe Fatigue Test Facility

Philadelphia, PA

Capable of testing specimens from 2 NPS to 16 NPS with up to 5 specimens tested simultaneously. Capable of delivering forces up to 100,000 lbs and pressures up to 2000 psi. Capable of cycling displacements and internal pressures simultaneously. Facility is capable of providing required test data in advance of major changes to SUBSAFE piping systems. There is no other known facility in the country, which can handle large piping component sizes up to 16” diameter. A fenced-in assembly and storage area allows for inspection and assembly of components and systems; installed equipment include work benches, 110 VAC power, LP Air connections, phone and LAN drops, a parts cleaner, HAZMAT locker, shelves and lockable cabinets for equipment and supplies. A raised mezzanine supports the control room and another work space with an installed work bench. A variety of ship and submarine hardware and instrumentation is available on-site or in storage to duplicate field conditions and support evaluation of new components, fluids and systems.
