Igniter for Exothermic Torch Rod

The Naval Surface Warfare Center's Crane Division has created a torch igniter for heavy metals and materials cutting applications. The igniter has been used by the Navy as well as other military factions for tactical operations. This invention addresses the need for a quicker, lighter, and more reliable ignition method for exothermic cutting, by deploying a built-in pyrotechnic slug, which is ignited with a mechanical firing pin.
