Battery Laboratory

Port Hueneme, CA

The NFESC Battery Laboratory is used primarily for the testing of silver-zinc batteries, such as Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle (DSRV) and Deep Submergence Vehicle (DSV) batteries. In tandem with NFESC’s Deep Ocean Simulation Facility (DOSF), silver-zinc batteries containing up to 76 individual cells can be tested to pressures exceeding 5,500 psig, and temperatures ranging from 32 ° F to 70 ° F.
