The Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) manages the Air Force’s investment in basic research. As part of the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), AFOSR orchestrates the Air Force’s basic research program both within the AFRL and in the academic and industrial scientific community. Collaboration between the AFOSR team and the scientists and managers in the nine directorates of AFRL is the key to its success.

The Air Force Center for Environmental Excellence, with headquarters at Brooks City-Base, Texas, is a field operating agency of the Air Force Civil Engineer. The center provides Air Force leaders with the comprehensive expertise they need to protect, preserve, restore, develop and sustain our nation's environmental and installation resources. AFCEE provides a complete range of technical and professional services in environmental and installation planning and engineering, and military housing construction and privatization.
Air Force Weather Agency
Air Force Weather, as part of the Joint team, delivers accurate, relevant, and timely environmental information, products, and services, anywhere in the world. We directly impact decision superiority by enhancing predictive battlespace awareness and enabling commanders at all levels to anticipate and exploit the battlespace environment, from the mud to the sun. The AF Weather Agency mission is to provide accurate, relevant and timely air and space weather information to DoD, coalition, and national users.
Naval Air Warfare Center - Aircraft Division, Lakehurst
NAVAIR Lakehurst
Navy Lakehurst (New Jersey) is the largest government owned facility east of the Mississippi River. It consists of 7,430 acres strategically located 45 miles east of Philadelphia, 10 miles west of the Atlantic Ocean coast, 60 miles north of Atlantic City, and 50 miles south of New York City. It abuts Fort Dix to the west forming a 38,000-acre Fort Dix/McGuire Air Force Base/Lakehurst complex. It operates a 4,000-acre test area and controls approximately 3,000 feet of airspace within a radius of 5 nautical miles. The Runway Arrested Landing Site is a 11,000+ feet runway. Lakehurst employs over 1900 personnel including approximately 600 scientists and engineers.
